My specialty is covering events, especially in an academic setting. This usually means getting the important shot without getting in the way. I've often been told by those in attendance that they barely noticed I was there.
I photograph events such as symposia, weddings, commitment ceremonies, anniversaries and Bat & Bar Mitzvahs. I also do portraits, and the ever popular miscellaneous.
I acquired the photography bug on a slow journey around the world in the 1970s. That led to shooting freelance for local newspapers and various departments at the University of Michigan.
During the 25 years I've earned my living in the Ann Arbor area as a photographer, the technology has changed significantly, and I have changed with it. I love black & white film and still have a darkroom, but most of my current work is digital.
